Problems with CCI Blazer Brass .45 ammo

Hi All,

Has anyone experienced any problems with CCI Blazer Brass .45 ammo? I recently bought a few cases of the ammo in .45 cal, and have had some issues with it chambering in all of my .45's. I also found 3 rounds out of 150 that had the FMJ bullet, seated much deeper in the brass case, than they should have been. It seems as though the case is hitting the bottom of the chamber as it's trying to seat. It happens at least 3, to 4 times, out of every box of 50 rounds. I'm using high quality mags, and I'm using Kimbers, Sig GSR, Springfield, and Norinco, .45's. All of them are having the same problem. If I use CCI Aluminum rounds, they all feed without a hitch. I'm also using Remington, Sellier & Bellot, and Winchester ammo, with no problems. The only brand that has the problem, is the CCI Brass cased ammo. Any input would be appreciated. "thanks"

This CCI ammo, both Brass and Aluminum case variants work great in my HK USP 45. No problem here.

Haven't had any problems using it with my Kimber TLE II. Blazer Aluminum does seem to be loaded a little hotter than the average 45 ACP. S&B is one of my favorite practice ammo brands for the 1911... I also love Wolf

Just shot 50 today. 1 FTF that may have been related to a crummy magazine and the bone chilling cold. Good otherwise. Gun was a stainless Commander 1991A1.

Yes I had similar problems with the brass CCI in my Wilson CQB (5" 1911). Everything else works fine. I avoid it like the proverbial plague now. Others on one of the 1911 forums have had trouble also.

I have shot about 400 of the "Brass Blazer" in my KP-90 Ruger, and 2 Springer 1911's.

No problems of any kind for me. I bought this stuff first time i saw it one the shelf.

I fired 100 rounds of Blazer Brass through my HK USP 45c about a month ago. No malfunctions and I didn't notice any defects in the loaded rounds.

I've never used the brass cased Blazers. All I can say is that I once ran over 2300 rds of aluminum cased Blazer .45 ACPs through a 1911 during the course of a five-day training class without a single ammo-related malf.

I've also run a bunch of it through an AMT DAO Backup, S&W 4586, a weird Hungarian GKK-45, S&W 625, and a CZ 97-B. No notable functioning problems in any of them.

I shot about 100 rounds of the aluminum stuff today and while it appears to shoot okay, I find it to be really dirty. I won't be shooting it again.

It's all I shoot in all pistols I own. Never have had a problem with the stuff. Seems to be of good quality.

I don't like the silver casing stuff. Seems to be under-powered compared to the brass.

I've fired a lot of Blazer aluminum over the years (and even a ton of Wolf) without any problems.

I tried out some Blazer brass in one of my 1911s. I can't remember which brand gun, but if you do a search I posted about it when it happened. This might sound weird, but the slide seemed to close noticeably more slowly after each shot. It was the only time I've fired a gun that I could actually feel the slide slowly (relatively speaking) return to battery. Every round fed and ejected, and they all worked, but it seemed like they might be slightly hanging up for a split second or something before the slide eventually talked them into chambering.

No biggie, as I said it all worked fine, it just felt different than other ammo. Not sure why.

I have fired about 800 rounds of CCI Blazer 9mm (aluminum casings) without a problem. Those were from a 1000 round batch bought at Natchez. Will buy again once I run out.

I purchased 2K of Blazer brass when Natchez ran it at a cheaper price than the aluminum variety. The aluminum stuff works fine. The Blazer Brass stuff did NOT feed consistently well at all. I will be going back to the aluminum case stuff just as soon as I get through with the brass version.

Then again on the good side, it introduced enough random malfunctions to be considered as a good training ammo. There is no need for snap caps when you get 2-4 malfunctions per 100 rounds.

Same thing happened to me, and I have a ramped barrel.

I just plan to stick to the Winchester White Box instead- never had a single problem with that, and it is the same price.

Fired mucho rounds of it. Both aluminum and brass. The only kind I've had problems with is the aluminum. Had 3-4 .45 rounds seated way to deep. I mean it looks like the bullet had fallen to the bottom of the case they were so bad. A few guns don't like the aluminum. I like the brass better than any other practice stuff out there.

Problems with BB in my Colt XSE. The gun was never totally perfect (a jam maybe in 300-350rnds), but I had alot of trouble with the Blazer. .40 works fine in my Walther.

Put a couple hundred rounds of the aluminum case stuff through my P90 in the past and it's never burped, but it never burps on anything, just keeps shooting into the X ring with about anything.

My old AMT Hardballer even fed the 230 ball Blazer. I think you may have another problem? Don't know, though. Some guns are just ammo picky. I've never had a large caliber auto pistol be picky about the case, though, so long as it's sized right. It's usually the OAL or the bullet ogive that throws 'em off.
