What kind of gun?

Did it actually have a serial number which is now "missing"? The gun may in fact have a legitimate right to exist. It's not a witch. To my mind, the proper action is none, absent Knowledge.

Could be that it has never had a serial number. It may be old enough that it's exempt from the requirement.

id get my torch and a big hammer if it was a pistol i liked then id strip the parts and smash the frame

if i didnt have my torch id call the police station and ask them in the form that it may be hypothetical and ask if they would take it off of my friends hands
