I'm contemplating applying for a 03 FFL C&R License and have a couple of questions. From my "internet research" thus far, it appears that C&R eligible firearms owned prior to recieving the license do not have to be logged in the bound book, correct? What about C&R eligible firearms acquired while you are a license holder but for which you did not use your C&R license and instead went through an 01 FFL and filed a form 4473 and underwent a background check? What about C&R eligible firearms you inherit while a license holder? What about those acquired through a private sale?

1. You are partly correct. If you dispose of them while licensed, no matter when acquired, you need to log them at the time of disposition.
2. Yes, logged.
3. Yes, logged.
4. Yes, logged.

When one gets a C&R, and receives the license, does it come with a book or other documentation outlining exactly everything one must do?

I applied in for one in May, my payment was processed May-20, and I'm still waiting on it.

5. No, but you can buy one from, say, Brownells, or make your own. I just use a looseleaf binder with one page per gun, front side for acquisistion and backside for disposal.
