Information on all of the bills sponsors is not available, but where it is they are all Democrats.

Somehow this does not surprise me.

Hopefully the bill will die in committee. If it doesn't and is passed the 2014 election should be very interesting. There are a lot of gun owners in Michigan that will totally be ticked off.

I will say one thing, it's a sneaky way they tried to slip this through. The old 'oh nothing to see here, just changing some definitions'

And let's not forget that we need to pass it so that we can see what's in it.

make me wonder if the folks in the CO legislature figured out to be very wary about the other side wanting to change a definition after open carry got mangled. I doubt most even know though and fewer care.

If you look at that page, at the bottom there are links to the official text of the bill you can read right there. Basically they took the existing laws, struck the word pistol and then added in firearm.

BTW, they also did the same thing on these two bills (penalties & sentencing)

It worked for New York's SAFE Act. They changed the definition of "assault rifle" from two military characteristics to one. Make thousands if not hundreds of weapons illegal. Tried and true method of the antis.

Do I think it will go anywhere? No. But I didn't think SAFE was going to pass either. Just proof we can't let up our campaign to get *them* out of office.

As a life long Michigander (with the exception of 4 years service with Uncle Sam's Misguided Children) I vow to hold any member of the legislature responsible for their vote on this and any other B.S. that comes along. I know I (we) should have been all along and maybe we wouldn't be having these problems right now. Better late than never.
