Just had my first kill with my "bulk ammo" I bought these Prvi bullets (6.5x55) because they were very inexpensive and had good brass. At the range they also grouped really well in my Tikka. Well today they saw their first kill. Not a perfect shot by any stretch, bullet struck the shoulder joint directly which can often cause a cup and core bullet to come apart, not this one, it blew up the shoulder like a granade, destroyed the heart, passed completly through, and left a silver dollar sized exit wound. The deer did not make it 10 feet before colapsing. Only complaint is that the meat damage was excessive probably due to striking such hard bone on the way in, but from now on they are going behind the shoulder. Has anyone else used this or their ammunition in other calibers? I for one am very impressed :)

Yeah it was the 139 gr soft point. Really impressed with the smackdown it laid on that deer despite the less then perfect shot. Was going to just use it for plinking ammo and relaod the brass with full power loads, but now I might keep the Prvi for my woods hunting.

Sweet. I shoot a Tikka in 6.5x55and have been looking at ordering a few boxes for the brass too. I guess I will have to now also.

Go to ammotogo.com I found five boxes of the stuff for $68 you are not going to beat that anywhere. It is also sold under other names like Monarch at Academy. Used their .270 ammo to sight in my savage and it shot really well too, never brought it hunting but I might after what I saw from their 6.5x55 ammo did, I have never seen a 300 mag make that big of a mess, now if only I can keep that mess in the ribs and avoid blowing up both shoulders LOL. That deer was going NOWHERE. Both front shoulders were Jello with bone fragments going through them.

Re: First kill...

Congrats on getting a deer! I have not used the Prvi in 6.5 but their ammo in 222 shoots great in my old French gevarm bolt gun. In fact better than Rems own 50 grain factory ammo. Also 7.65 X 53 Argentine does well in a 1909 Mauser. I like it and their brass polishes nicely. You should visit there website its a big company that makes other products too. Very modern and I am not surprised at the high quality.

I shoot the Prvi 139 grn SP's in my 6.5x55 also.It is very accurate ammunition in my CZ550 FS. I can shoot the x ring right out of the target at 100 yds consistantly. They also sell their bullets and brass as components for reloaders at a great price.Accuracy and low cost. Whats not to like?

Privi

The high shoulder shot is my choice of any shot. I'm no Indian Tracker and have lost deer that I've hit. However I learned many years ago that if you break the shoulders a blind man can track them. The 10-20 feet they MIGHT travel pushing with the rear legs is hard to not see. Also any error in aiming is also deadly ie spine, lungs, heart, neck. You did good!

Well done. I am also a fan of their ammo--it groups well in my 30-06, and I took a buck with one of their 150 grain soft points this season.

If Remchester keeps cutting corners/raising prices and ther Serbs keep making quality ammo like this for $13 a box they are going to put us out of buisness. These generic SPs perform at leased as well as any corelock I have ever used in 20+years. Through and through every shot, rapid expantion on impact, and SUB-MOA performance at the range it is really changing my oppinion of Soviet block ammo, (yes I know Serbia was not technicaly USSR)
