Is this stuff any good? It seems to be in quite a few stores and I even noticed they're using Sierra 77 gr bullets in it.

I've looked for reviews and I find people using it in older mil surp rifles and saying it's good. Problem I have with that is if it's bad it ruins a $100 gun, but what about an expensive gun?

Yes. It's good stuff. I've shot it in 8mm and 7.5 Swiss. Good ammo, good brass. Shot well in my vz24 and K31.

I shoot it in my ARs, FAL, and CETME as well as in various bolt actions in different calibers.

Have had really good luck with their rifle ammo. Pistol ammo on the other had was filthy and I had one underloaded cartridge that the bullet made it half way down the barrel and jammed. Still had enough energy to cycle the action and load another round could have been ugly. The rifle ammo I used was in 303 brit and the pistol ammo .380.

I've used a bit and it's all good so far. A lot of other companies just repackage Prvi ammo; take a look at some bulk-pack headstamps.

I've used several rifle calibers of PP and never had any problems.

PP ammo is good ammo, clean and non-corrosive and I wouldn't shoot it in my higher dollar mil-surps if that wasn't the case. Between PP and S&B ammo S&B tends to be a bit better but more expensive generally also but there is nothing about PP ammo that will ruin your firearms.

Actually thank goodness for PP ammo because some calibers would be hard pressed to find other wise like 6.5 Swedish, 7.5 French, 7.65 Argentine, and clean .303 British and 8x57 ect.......with out spending over $20 for a box

I'll use it before I use really cheap dirty stuff like Wolf.

They make the only 7.65 Argentine that I can find. It worked well for me.

Interesting. Don't think I'll pass on it if I'm in need of ammo. Sounds like they even have hard to get cartridges. Wolf I would use if I was out of ammo and found a box. Wasn't to big on any of the European ammo makers but maybe they're OK.

Half the time, they're the ONLY source of reasonably priced odd calibers.

I've shot a ton of (like 1000 rounds) of Prvi 55gr M193 5.56mm ammo in my Colt 6920. Not a cheap rifle.

    No failures at all.

I love PPU. If their load does not work well in your rifle, the quality of their brass is almost worth buying a couple of boxes of ammo for reloading.

The brass is better than winchester or remington and in my opinion on par with federal.

Lionking, I have a box of each of those cartridges in my ammo cabinet waiting for my Spanish M1916 sporter to get back from the gunsmith (it's getting proper sights). I test-fired it with Rem Core-lokt, and at 100 yds it seemed roughly consistent, but the sights on it were terrible. I can't wait to get it back. Thanks for the performance info.

    ^^^ This

I've only shot their 7.62x38R and 32 S&W Long, but both have been good and much cheaper than I've been able to find locally, when I can find either locally.

I've only used it in 7mmRM: no function issues, decent consistency (I used it to rough sight in a new scope).

I bought 100 rounds of their 7.62x39 rn sp only to discover that the nose is way too round to reliably cycle in an ak. I guess I have the brass. Otherwise, I have heard good things.

The 200 rounds I got for my Mosin 91/30 (mainly to get the brass) went BANG! just fine.

Shot some in 7.62x54 in my M44 Mosin-nagant...Good stuff. Also some in .30-06, again good stuff.

Shooting Budd had some "Hot Shot" in 7.62x51, which is re-branded Prvi, worked well in his Springfield M1A.

From what I have seen, a tip o' the hat to Prvi for good ammo at reasonable prices, and still good prices on some ahhhhh lees popular calibres.

i've shot close to 10k rnds of prvi m193 in my ARs and had no issues.

i have shot several boxes of their 223 and 308 "match" ammo and couldn't hit a thing. sold the rest of what i bought to someone else who said it worked great in his gun. go figure.

however, i was out shooting bolt guns today at mid-to-long range steel and on a whim pulled out this AR http://precisionmultigun.com/pics/greenar2.JPG and fired at the mid-range targets. I was using a swaro z6i 1-6x scope with a circle/cross hair reticle that didn't have any hashes or dots (not the USO shown in the pic) and just guessed at the holdover on a 405 yrd 10" plate and got first round hit with m193.
I transitioned to 500 yrd 8x12" plate and missed the first round, corrected and was 4 for 4 on that plate. prone, using 30 rnd magazine as a monopod.

i'm not saying m193 is match ammo, but you can make 500+ yrd hits with it no problem.

I bought a couple boxes of 7.62x54r for the brass to work up a hunting load for my M39 Mosin Nagant. When I went to the range to shoot it up, it shot one inch or less right out of the box. Why reload? All of the other calibers I shot worked great too....chris3

(thanks turtle. i originally posted about it here and also used it in the Mammoth Sniper Challenge last year, which was why it had the USO scope on it in the pics. build info is in the first thread)

The only problem I have with it is that it just went way up in price, right when I was getting ready to buy another case of 7.62x51!!! Just a month or so ago, you could get the Prvi 145 grain 7.62 NATO for less than $0.50/round online. Now it looks like I'll be buying some Sellier and Belliot instead.

Also, it looks like their prices for 5.56 are enough higher than surplus that I won't be going with them for the AR either.

But Prvi is what I use in my .30-30 (in the form of Monarch brand ammo at Academy), and it shoots great.
