From an old Colt Industries pamphlet:
"FFG black powder is best for large and medium-size revolvers, and FFFG for the small pocket models, but any grade that is available will work reasonably well."
Today I went to the range with my Ruger Old Army. I didn't have any Goex left, so I tried Pryodex FFG. I was impressed by the way it performed in the revolver..
This was at 100 yards - not record setting but not bad for me.

You'd sure make something skeerd at that range.
Nice shooting, one day I'll see what I can do with either of my Remington copies at 100 yards but it'll probably be after the New Years "hunting season is right around the bend for me."

The Ruger is a great gun. It was actually more accurate with the Pryodex FFG at 100 yds than with FFFG Goex. Maybe because the FFG isn't as "crisp" as the FFFG, which gives the ball more time to engage the rifling?
I used the vegetable spray PAM on the cylinder pin and down the barrel, and it stayed nice and clean and unfouled.
