Sure it will

Sure it will , no problem, dirtier, slower burn rate, less octaine , but tis perfectly fine.
Most of the old Revolvers were meant to shoot FF anyway , Walkers and Dragoons specifically were made to shoot the stuff. Your good to go !
I do it all the time when I run out of 3f .

Triple Seven is rated as being 10-15% hotter than real black powder.I thought that was just the fellas in marketing talking, but it's true.I loaded up some Triple Seven 3F loads in my Trapdoor, and they were barky!

777 FFg equivalent volumes would be a bit less energetic than 777 FFFg in most pistols due to the slower burn rate. Both are quite likely to be a bit more energetic than equivalent black powder by volume. Do as BHP Fan suggests, reduce your loads, and you'll be fine. My experience has shown 777 to be a cleaner BP substitute. Cleans up easily with warm water and a bit of detergent.

Funny that this query came up as I just this past weekend ran several cylinders full thru both my '51 and 1858.............my distinct impression is that the stuff is SUBSTANTIALLY hotter than either pyro or black. Quite accurate in both pieces, tho.

Recoil with both guns was noticably sharper and the loads even sounded a lot louder with muffs on. Now, wether that translates into more velocity I can't say, but I do intend to run a couple of cylinders full over my Oehler and find out.....I'll post the results but won't be able to make a private range session for several days.

Might note that the volume I used with both guns was precisely that I apply with black.........flush to the cylinder mouth and then seat a ball topped with CVA's lube....have also used wads but just didn't bother with them over the fourth.......not that it likely makes any real diff.

I also had a similar experience with my 7 1/2'' SAA clone.Loaded up some 30 gr. 3F 777 .45 Colt rounds with light compression [I read the cautions about over compressing] and they sound like heavy .44 mag charges going off,and recoil the gun so that it's pointed up after each shot.I think I'll save the rest for use in my Lever gun.
