Well, Sunday I got to have a little bit of fun.

Since I live in a real, bona-fide village in the middle of a cornfield, there aren't any real shooting ranges for a long way. I usually end up going to my granpa's house (which is right smack dab in the middle of his own personal cornfield) and we did some shooting. First off, I used up approximately 100-ish rounds of .22LR ammo with two different rifles, both at 20 yards. I did OK with the first, an old single-shot .22. The second was a semi-automatic with a scope and a tubular magazine. It was far more accurate.

Then, the real fun started. Between my grandpa and me we shot 4 mags each of 8 rounds into our targets. Neither of us were what you might call "experts" but we did OK with that little 9mm. Here is the gun:

Then I got to shoot 2 loads of 5 shots each from my grandpa's .38 special revolver. They were light wadcutter loads, and it was a lot of fun. This is also his HD gun.

The real small holes are .22LR from 25 yards.
The fairly large, ragged holes are 9mm, from 10 yards.
The large clean holes are .38 Special wadcutters at 10 yards.

This one's mine:

My grandpa shot out the middle of the black circle with a .22.

Those are mostly mine, and I know everything is all over the place.

The 5 in the orange circle are all mine from 25 yards with a scoped rifle.

That's everything we shot. .22's all over the place, 9mm's, and .38's.

These last 2 have a mag of 9mm's each, and a bunch of .22's.

That one is his^^^^^. This one was mine. I shot better than him my first time with a pistol, haha. \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/

Not the best shooting ever, but oh well. By the way, it was pretty windy today too.

That's why you practice, to get better. Be it golf, piano, or firearms. I can just see your faces at the end of the session. Golf and piano don't create smiles like those. Am I right?

Haha, you are 100% correct. There's just nothing like it!

Also, what are some technigues for recoil control? I know about keeping your feet well seperated, arms loose and bent, and weight on the balls of your feet, but is there anything else? Or after time is it just not as noticeable as you gain experience with pistols? Because that little 9mm moved waaaaay up after each shot, and I had to take a couple seconds to get it back on target after every shot.
