Does anyone have or can link to any official statement from the BATFE regarding these rifles. So far I have only heard Century's statements that BATFE has found them "not suitable for domestic distribution". That is not lingo used by ATF. Could they have just made this up to cover their butts?

The deal is when the receiver was manufactured, they drilled the little hole that allowed a full auto sear to be installed. Century welded over the holes and made them into rifles. ATF claims they fall under the "once a machinegun, always a machinegun" clause, even though they were never made into anything. Century is replacing them at no cost to the owner.

WOW

What a farce. What a waste of time money and resources. For what effect?

Yeah. I guess it's a good thing these geniuses in Washington will be running our healthcare in the near future... :barf:

anybody know of a list of effected serial numbers for this recall? im kinda freaked out.

I believe that was from a couple years ago and has largely been resolved. You could call/e-mail Century if you want.

For the record, the PSL has never been a selective fire rifle.

What is commonly mistaken as a "full auto sear" in the Kalashnikov (and PSL) is actually a "safety sear" which acts to make sure the bolt is completely closed before the hammer can be released.

Yes, it's a stupid ruling by the revenuers, as the PSL has never "been a machine gun".
