Some people here have reported that the PSL does not like soft point ammo. However, I fired a full box of 20 PRVI Partizan 150-grain soft points through my PSL on Saturday, with no stoppages. In fact, I had no stoppages with the rifle all day, regardless of what I put through it. I put a lot of rounds through it, as I was sighting in a new scope (a Simmons 6-18x50), and had no problems whatsoever. I can't give you a full accuracy report because, by the time I got it sighted in reasonably at 100 yards, the barrel was rather hot and my shoulder was very sore. I still need to do some fine tuning, but it looks like I have an accurate hunting rifle.

My experience: almost all the feed problems people report with these rifles are due to weld pits in the magazine just under the feed lip. These can catch the rim of the 7.62x54R cartridge and cause the cartridge nose to turn down when feeding. A good workover with a file will fix it, as will changing to a better magazine. Some sort of filler may also resolve the problem. My original magazine had the occasional problem, but I picked up a replacement at the gun show and visually inspected it for this problem. The new magazine runs flawlessly.

I got it from AIM Surplus about a year ago when they had it in. I bought 10 boxes of the stuff because it was only $10.50 a box. Here's a photo, but Photobucket seems to be slow right now.

Nice gun. I don't know about different areas but a local shop near me has Wolf (non-corrosive) for $5.99 a box. I don't have a PSL but it works good in the 91/30. Due to another thread I've been looking forward to shooting some Prvi Partisan.

Hmmmm......That's nice. Just wish they were sold in .308 caliber. Thanks

The Saiga is available in .308. The PSL action is more of an AK than a Dragunov anyway.
