What type of rifle is this? Sorry google is blocked at work but one of my co-workers has 1 he wants to trade my Arsenal for his.

It's a very high quality clone of an HK G3 semi auto .308 rifle.

Very well made in the US on old HK machinery purchased from overseas.

The standard models sell new for around $1000 or so.

The nicest thing about the PTR/G3 is that you can buy magazines all day long for $3.

OK thanks .308 ammo is it kinda expensive? never really paid attention to the price.

Well, .308 is kinda expensive, but its a much more capable round than 7.62x39mm or 5.56x45mm.

Based on the info you've provided, I think that is a good trade.

I think you are getting the better end of the bargain if his rifle is in good shape. Also 7.62x51 Nato surplus is at or above $.50 per round these days even when bought in bulk. So if money is an issue you may want to walk away.

Hard to say. Some folks like to dump several magazines in a day's excursion. If this is you, the cost of the ammo for the PTR will become a real burden.

Myself, when I shoot my PTR, it is usually about 60 rounds or so, with a scope from prone at clay pigeons or other similar targets out to about 400 yards or so. It really is a whole lot of fun.

I have seen other clones that are made elsewhere that are not so good and still priced similarly. Caveat Emptor

Good rifle but the question is WHAT Arsenal rifle are you thinking of trading. Some of the prices, especially milled guns, are way up there.

I don't think I could do a $1000 (NIB) PTR for a $1500 milled Arsenal; I'd sell the Arsenal buy a new PTR, mags (as cheap as it gets btw) and a case of .308, or it'd be a trade plus cash/ammo something.

Its a great rifle, 308 is a little pricey but the rifle is accurate.

Ok thanks for replys I decided not to trade the Arsenal I had is SLR-107f, ill just stick with x39 and 5.56.

Love my PTR91. One more factor to consider, though - do you reload? CETME & G3 actions are really tough on brass... they basically beat the crap outta the empties. I shoot mainly Berdan primed surplus in mine, so that's not a factor for me.

Cost is relative, what is "expensive" to you may not be expensive to me.

That said, the PTR is a fantastic .308 semi auto, avoid magtech .308 ammo, and Indian surplus and you will be fine.
