1. Are the Hensoldt Fero Z24 scopes worth $380.00, or am I better off mounting a Picitinny rail with different scope?

2. Is the original G3 buttstock/forearm of better quality than the PTR furniture?

3. I wanted to change the pinned post-ban muzzle brake on my PTR. Are there any muzzle brake/supressor adapters that will work on the PTR-91? I was thinking of the Surefire MB762SSAL/RE (5/8-24 thread)?

4. Will the G3 Navy select-fire trigger group work on the PTR-91? Can the PTR-91 be converted to a semi/full-auto rifle (after getting a tax stamp of course)? What other parts are needed aside from the trigger group?

You can't have a full auto rifle after 1986?
Not unless it was already registered in civilian hands before that date.

No more converisons post '86, no new machine guns for civilians post '86. Sent prices skyrocketing since the supply was frozen.

I'd got a Thompson SMG and was negotiating for an M16 when Bush the elder pulled the rug out from under us, prices immediately doubled which I could not afford at the time :( Still I should have taken out a loan and gotten it, as it would have been the best investment I'd ever made!

It was Ronald Reagan that threw us under the bus on this one, with the encouragement of the NRA.

Bad deal all the way around I'm afraid.

NRA wanted FOPA really bad, and this last minute throw in stood to put passage in jeopardy so NRA compromised with the thinking that it would be easy to go in later and reverse it.

And of course that never happened.

I think the Fero-Z is worth every penny, and then some. Great clear optics, handy features, easy reticle to get used to.

The forend is really a matter of personal preference. The standard aluminum version that comes on them now is really pretty handy, unless you find yourself actually using it to pick up the rifle. It is great for bipods, or fore end mounted grips, and whatnot. Personally I prefer the HK wide forend, or the wood stock as it doesn't seem to get as hot.

There are other grip frames available for the rifle. Keep in mind your parts count as you venture down this path.

1) idk
2) yes the HK furniture is higher quality (plastic vs. plastic) and not as shinny.
3) get your barrel threaded and all is good.
4) no, to use that lower would require modification to the lower receiver to fit the upper (called clipped and pinned lowers). FA would require modification to the upper receiver, a FA G3 bolt carrier, a pre-86 registered auto sear and G3 trigger pack/lower.
