So anyway, I'm spacing out a little bit today and I decide I want to start watching the stocks of some companies I have a personal interest in, regardless of their worth. It does not seem many manufacturers are publicly held. But one I did start watching this morning is Smith & Wesson Holding Company, which jumped $1.15 to $12.52 last I checked. Makes me wish I'd loaded up this morning.

Besides just pointing that out, does anyone else know any gun manufacturers (as opposed to the broader spectrums of defense or military contractors) that focus in sales to private citizens that are publicly traded? If nothing else, it's always good to show some support for companies whose goods or services you appreciate. (Okay, maybe that's a very old way of thinking, but I'd settle for low returns on some of my money if I had a quasi-tangible interest in the company, like a few guns in the safe).

Ruger and Smith and Wesson are the only two gun companies publicly traded in the US.

Nice on that S&W, I own a couple hundred shares at an average cost of $4.

Ha, seriously - sell now!

I found Ruger, too, they're up slightly as well. I set up a phantom portfolio with those two, and some other favorites like Cabela's and Gander Mountain. The shooter's portfolio, if you will. We'll see how it's doing in a month or so.
