Pulling bullets on 7.62x54r

The impact pullers will work for an occasional mistake or two, but if you're pulling milsurp bullets by the 100's, you'll get more consistent and much faster results with a press mounted collet style puller.
I use the Hornady cam lock and it will pull milsurp sealed bullets cleanly with ease.

It might, but it would be pretty tough. Those bullets are sealed which makes them really hard to remove.

I pulled about 50 7.62 x 54r a month ago using this:

and it worked very well. If you have the dies, put the cartridge in your press and run it into the seating die and seat the bullet another 1/8 inch or so. This will break the sealant to neck bond and make them easier to pull.

The .308 collet for the Hornady will pull the .311 bullets just fine.

Go with the .308 from Hornady...works well.

First break the seal by using a seating die and pushing the bullet a few thousands into the the case. This helps whether using a hammer puller or a collet puller.

If you end up buying a hammer type puller get an RCBS, WAY, WAY down the road when it does break it guaranted -- forever. And forever is a long time.

Also remember the collet puller is caliber specific and doesn't work well with pistol cartridges whereas the hammer puller will pull just about any caliber, pistol or rifle.

The Hornady bullet puller did the trick. They are a bit tough since they are sealed, but after getting the die in the right spot they come out clean and fast!

As jcwit posted above, always use your seating die and seat the bullet slightly deeper, just enough to break the GI sealer.

It makes pulling so much easier & faster it is well worth the extra step.
