Puma Levergun in 357

I have an EMF 20" SRC and it has never had a bobble with 38 or 357. Holds 1-1.5" at 100 yds of a bench rest. Great little rifle in my experience.

Wouldn't trade it for a Marlin even though I like the 336 better than the M94.

I have the Puma SRC with 16" Barrel and Large Loop Lever. Would not trade it for the world. Will function and shoot accurately with all of my reloads both .38 and .357. I have at least 1000 rounds through it, mostly .38's. Have yet to have any problem. It is light and fast and a pleasure to shoot with even the hottest .357's. A truly great buy. Mine went for $379 about a year ago. Bill

P.S. I most shoot 158 LSWC's but have shot some flat point cowboy bullets and load some .357 semi jacketed hollow point. My loads range from standard .38 Special, +P .38 Special to full house .357's cast and jacketed. Groups are always centered I just have to move up one notch on the ladder when going from .38 to .357 at 50 yards and I am done.

I have one I paid just under $200 for four years ago. Pretty accurate at 50 - 100 yeards, but mine has some feeding problems with both .38 and .357 ammo. They are pretty nice guns, but I like my Marlin and Winchesters better (better quality, reliability). YMMV

RustyHammer,

I have something to point out about your statement:
They are pretty nice guns, but I like my Marlin and Winchesters better (better quality, reliability). YMMV
I have an 1894 Marlin Cowboy with an 18.5 inch barrel and microgroove rifling. After 100 rounds or so, the screws start working loose. Does your EMF Rossi do that? Just curious.

The fit on the Marlins and Winchesters are a little better than the EMF 1892 rifles but the Marlins and Winchester have very plain wood stocks compared to the EMF rifles. The Winchester 92 rifles are nice but cost twice as much as a Rossi. I don't like the Win 94's action design. To much play in the lever and they have a very long throw. Also the lever tension safety sucks. The Marlins are very good rifles but they do have their little problems also like any other rifle. The side eject is a plus. The 92 design is hard to beat for durability. They will withstand the pressures of the 454 casull magnum, something I never though was possible for a lever rifle. You can't go wrong with either a Marlin or a Rossi rifle.

Rusty,

The loose screw thing tends to be endemic of Marlin lever actions. Mine was rock solild until recently with the screws. I guess it take a while to really hit, but I am going to put some Loc-Tite on them to keep them in the gun.

Other than that, it's been a SMOOTH shootin' rifle.
