It's probably been close to 5 years ago I bought a DPMS LR-308 with the 24" stainless fluted barrel to replace a Stoner SR-25 I'd sold a few years before that ... I replaced the trigger, the stock, loaded for it with different bullets and powders but no matter what I did I could not get the satisfaction that I had with the Stoner.
So, a couple weeks ago I bought another SR-25, just like my first one and the S/N is only a couple hundred from my original one ... and the joy is back!
The best part is this one came with the Magpul PRS stock, a Giselle DMR trigger and was about 1K less than I sold mine for about 7-8 years ago.
Very nice centurion20000! A review of your 30-06 would be sweet! Checked out the Facebook page and it's pretty cool. I hope to get one when the kids are a little older and have a little more cash to spend.
Over the last couple of years I've bout an Armalite, An LWRCi REPR, and just bought a 300 AAC BLK upper.
Here's the 300 BLK with T1, KAC URX III FF rail and AAC 51T muzzle device (Now awaiting a suppressor)
Armalite AR10B A4 Carbine with Optisan 1-4x scope (Best $100 scope on the market!), GG&G Bipod, Magpul ACS buttstock.
And the bad boy - LWRCi REPR. 20" barrel, Magpul PRS, Weaver 3-10x mil/mil scope, Harris Bipod
Congrats on the Armalite. IMO, it's the best value in .308 ARs at that price.
M&P10.
Handle one side by side with the DPMS before you buy. If you value handling characteristics such as weight, balance the MP10 is the best AR10 I have seen in that respect, with an 18" barrel to boot.
LWRC REPR 16" fluted barrel, 2 position gas block. Not mine, but used it extensively. Side charging handle a HUGE improvement over T handle, especially with suppressor (gas doesn't hit you in face). Geissele non adjustable two stage trigger is solid. Gun ran fine with suppressor, did have some short stroking issues with dirty rifle and no suppressor. Solution- keep can on gun and it runs fine (extra gas keeps it running).
Originally purchased a DPMS LR 308; overall happy with it except for the trigger. Changed it out to a RRA 2 stage. Then bought the 338 Federal upper and retired the 308.
Recently purchased the Ruger SR 762 and again, except for the trigger am very happy. Changed out the trigger with a Timney 308 and am pleased with the results.
