My wife is looking into this new PX4 in .40S&w. Before I even think about going along with her on the purchase I need some no B.S. feedback. I am hearing about everything from trigger sting to magazines just falling apart. I neither like nor dislike beretta's. I have never owned nor fired one so I have an open mind up to and including what I am hearing. My concern is that this is the weapon that my wife wants to use as her CCW and I want to know more about it. Call me paranoid but I love my wife. The weapon feels great in the hand, is very pointable, has great sights and I do like the trigger. How is the accuracy, is it reliable? If you have one I would REALLY like to hear from you. Thanks in advance. SEMPER FI.

9MM

I bought one of the early production models in 9mm full size. I love it! I've fired almost 2k rounds through it. No problem what so ever.

It is very reliable, I've had one malf. with a bad primer. Not the guns fault.

The mag issue sounds like a myth.

I trust my life with this gun. I carry it on occasion. No issues. I'll explain why in a second.

The only issue I have with it is it is that it has a manual safety and I'm a Sig guy (DA/SA no safety). So having to swipe a high mounted safety is a new experience for me. Easy solution is to just take the safety off.

One other thought though is that I'm a big guy, I don't know how big your wife is but CCW might be a problem if she's petite because it's a pretty decent size gun.

9mm yes, 40 or 45 cal NO..

Very real, with both 40 and 45..

PS.. accuracy is there, dependability and reliability is there.. 6150 perfect rounds thru my 40cal, BUT.. cold temps make it a non-ccw gun on any cold days because of trigger sting. 9mm's you'll be fine all year round.. IMO

Pss.. if you really want a 40cal for both of ya, then take a good look at either Sig P229 40cal or P228, all weather, ccw, guns, very soft/recoil shooters, accurate, dependable and reliable, I know.. If ccw is non-issue, also the P226 40cal full-size

PX4 is one of the best .40 S&W's going in my opinion. I'd buy one over a Glock, M&P, and a whole host of others right now. Of course others may not feel the same way.
I know perceived recoil is a subjective thing, but for me the PX4 in .40 seems like it has less recoil than the M&P 9mm. I guess because of the rotating barrel. If I were going to get one, it would be the one with the decocker and safety.
The only complaints I have: safety/decocker is slide mounted rather than frame mounted, and I'd rather have tritium sights instead of the superluminova sights.
Overall, it's a heck of a gun. Accuracy was superb for me.

My PX4 40 has a lot less recoil than my Glock 22, The PX4 45 is a dream. Pops

I have a 40 cal PX4 - I bought it a month ago. Lowest recoiling 40 cal I have ever shot - even less than metal frames handguns (in 40 cal).

No trigger issues for me

Congrats to ya both

Very glad to hear she went for the Sig P229 40cal. She and you won't be disappointed, warm weather, cold weather, all year round, that gun will give ya 100%

IMHO, use 180gr FMJ and JHP.. softer recoil, more punch to the BG's

Enjoy,
