I'm debating between purchasing the Beretta PX4 and H&K's USPc, .40.
I know that H&K's reputation precedes itself in terms of quality and reliability, but the cheapest one I could find is $700. I also like the idea of having a safety which the USPc provides.

I handled the PX4 and while it's technically not a compact pistol, it's not a beast either. I like that it holds 14 rounds, has a decocker(which Beretta says is basically a safety), and the price is about $200 less than the H&K.

Any owners of either pistol have any input?

Thanks

The PX4 is a better value and if it fits you well would be the way to go. Having owned a PX4 and the bigger USP, I prefer the HK somewhat.

Between the two, I'd opt for the USPc. I like the option of condition 1 as well as DA/SA.

But really, the USPc is a freakin' honkin' big pistol for a "compact." If you shoot high thumb with the safety, you can disengage the safety and decock the weapon thus making the first shot in DA when you expected it in SA.

But really, look at a different HK. Such as a P2000. You might be even more tempted. :)

I have really enjoyed my USP's...over the last few years, I have learned to appreciate what the USP has to offer...GOOD GUN!

I like my 9mm PX4 better than my USP 45! The PX4 IMO seems to have a better finish.

I have a USPc in 9mm. I like it a lot.

I have fired a PX4 on three separate occasions, both in 40 and 9mm. Not a big fan of the gun, personally.

To me, the USPc's trigger isn't as smooth as the PX4. But the PX4 fits my hand better so that doesn't really help you. LOL. It has typical Beretta smoothness all over it. Then again, so does the H&K.

They're both great guns, both have great ergonomics.

If I had to choose, I would go with the H&K. The quality in those guns is worth it, IMO.

I almost got the HK2000. But, for one thing, I already have a compact DA/SA - a P99c. And, I wanted the USPc because of the frame mounted safety - almost like a polymer 1911. I can carry it cocked and locked. That's what edged me over to the USPc.

U can't do that w/ the PX4 either - the safety is on the slide.

I wish Beretta would understand that there are some guys who like the frame mounted safety - They needa start making some guns with them that way - instead of making them so ya gotta buy a $1000+ special edition to get your hands on 1 (like the Beretta Steel or the Bilenium).

I have multiple H&K USP's, including the USP Compact 40. They are a top notch weapon and you won't go wrong getting one. I would say go for it.
