Qchex anyone heard of or used this

Never heard of them. I'd be very reluctant to use them.

Looking at their FAQ's, you have to have MICR ink ($30), and check paper ($20) to print out a check sent by email (they say you can use regular paper, but...). Expensive for you if he's the only customer you ever have that uses it. I'd be concerned about my bank accepting the check too.

Ask you bank. Not a teller, but an officer. Get the answer in writing.

Thats exactly what I was thinking I will call them first thing in the morning and ask about Qchex.

I'm not really worried about getting ripped off as I will not ship the firearm until the check clears the bank and then only if I have an FFL to ship to. The individual wants a fast transaction and I flat out told him cashiers check/money order or CC are the fastest transactions for shippment immediately. I will not ship on personal checks until they clear my account, and I feel that this Qchex is a personal check. From the FAQ it states that the check uses the clients bank routing number and account number to their personal checking account. Qchex's faq also says that they check the account balance at the time the check is submitted to make sure there are enough funds to cover the check but that means nothing to me. It may have the funds today but what about transactions that hit the account tomorrow.

Three words: Postal Money Order.

No ifs, no ands, no buts. I never accept anything else (short of cash), and I send them for all mail transactions. Even F2F with somebody I don't know requires a postal money order or cash.

Oh yeah... Another version of the Nigerian scams involves someone buying something, then _grossly_ overpaying by check - and then they ask you to refund the money... The thing clears initially, but bounces later. You're out the cash if you send 'em the $$...

Yeah I just got off the phone with the bank. They said be careful, you do have to have the MIRC ink to print legitimate checks and it would take 10days for the check to clear.

I decided to tell the guy paypal or cashiers check only. If he wants it he should understand, I told him MIRC ink wasn't available for my printer. If not oh well he can move onto the next person with a similar gun. At this point I'm tired of turning other people away as it takes this guy 3 days to respond. Not only to mention the guys phone is listed in MN and he wants the gun shipped to an FFL in TX.

Besides QChek, there are several other auction paying sites, like bidpay,guncard.com,and a couple of others that elude me right now. Paypal is anti-gun and there can be problems if you get caught doing a firearms transaction through them. I like Paypal, they are convenient, easy to use, etc. Their anti-gun stance bugs me, though.

Here's the reference about Paypal and their anti-gun stance: http://www.guncard.com/pages/1/index.htm

It's also in Paypal's Terms of Service

Ok through this Qchex I just received a check for $2000 though I have sold nothing near this amount. I called the business at the number listed on the check and they've never heard of the person who sent the check. And asked me not to cash it. *** is going on, I'm waiting for the guy that was wanting to use this service to email me and say he over paid and ask I send the difference back to him, ain't gonna happen.

These links where sent to me by Senior Member Third_Rail. Thank You very much for the info.

The scammer p.o.s I'm dealing with sent me a check for $2000 for a $400 G22. He has acknowledged the $2000 check but hasn't asked for the difference back yet. Still waiting on him to ask for the $1600 difference. Either way I'm calling the local FBI office hopefully they can sting this guy mid-scam.

Didn't I just read another thread like this the other day? I guess I did.

Yeah, sounds like a scam.

fraud fraud fraud

I had a crew try to pass three (3) of those QChek checks on me in one week;
all bounced one in about 5 min, while I was standing there at the bank.

QChek or what ever are not worth the paper they are printed on.

postal money order or cashiers'/cert check in continental US is usually ok.
