Remember to start with load data from a manufacturer. Quickload can be, highly inaccurate at times. That's what I was looking for.....sweet.
It's a 135. They started producing them in 2018.If you are referring to the Sierra 125 grain HPFP, I think that may be the bullet Federal uses in their 125grain loading, which my gun shoots itty-bitty groups with. They have an excellent reputation on deer from all I have heard. Unfortunately, the closest to carry those is a town-over. I'll pick some up to play with next time I am over there, but for my first hunting load I am sticking to components that are regularly available in town.
I can't comment on the Nosler bullet, but I got some good results with the 160 gr. Hornady FTX 308 Marlin Express bullet (Manufacturer #: 30396) in my Winchester 30-30 using 30.4 gr. of Winchester 748 (see picture). This was a 5-shot group at 100 yds. shot with the rifle in a machine rifle rest. The overall group was 2.103", but 4 shots fell in a group measuring 0.722" as shown in the picture. The Lyman 50th Edition reloading manual lists W-748 as the "potentially most accurate" powder with the Hornady 160 gr. FTX bullet. Now the rest of the story.I am hoping someone would be gracious enough to post some QL predictions for a 150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip seated to an OAL of 2.788 in a single shot 30-30, with IMR 3031, Reloader 15, and Winchester 748 powders. I sure would appreciate it!
I finally did a small ladder-test of the 150grain Nosler Ballistic Tip using up to 31grains of IMR 3031. I was at 50 yards so as to not have to wonder too hard about what was going on with pulled shots, and also using a 4X scope.
Also, I've heard (but can't confirm) that 94 Winchesters are 'famous' for shooting one shot 'off-group' due to the force exerted on the barrel by the tubular magazine as the barrel heats up, so your 'off-group' rounds may not have been pulled shots (unless you specifically remember you did so).
You’re quite reinventing the wheel in regards to the .30/30 w/150gr bullets.
