For a scope, Marlin 60.
The stock is set up well for a scope. The standard 10/22 is not. WAY too much drop.
I prefer the Marlin 60, anyway. The 10/22 is a good project gun, or it's good as-is, a carbine with iron sights and low expectations, but if you want a scope, plan on replacing the stock, barrel and trigger. Getting too expensive for what it is, IMO. I've got one of each (60 and 10/22). The Marlin wears the scope. Couldn't stand it on the 10/22, and I can't see dumping hundreds of dollars into it, either.
My FAVORITE .22, though, is a Marlin Golden 39A. Heavy barrel, accurate, and fun. Points like a dream, it's a takedown, it's all-steel with cut-checkered walnut. But that's more expensive.
