Friends:
I have an M44 that has a tendency to have vertical stringing, in that the first shot from a cold bore is ~ 4" below the bullseye, at 50 yards, and as the bore warms up creeps up the target until the POI is in the bullseye.
One of my boys wants to take it hunting in a few weeks, and I'd like to see if I can accurize it to fix this most frustrating issue. I have seen some videos on YouTube regarding sanding out the stock underneath the barrel, and only having the stock touch the barrel at the end of the stock, where the upper stock and lower stock end up.
Does anyone have a resource to point me toward for more specifics? Would I need to remove the action screws from the tang, and underneath the rifle to accomplish this?
Also, I have heard that putting some epoxy bedding material in specific locations may help.
Again, does anyone have a resource that I might read to understand how the bedding process and stock sanding process works? Thanks so very much in advance for your help!
