question about gun paper work

Im no newby to buying guns, but I always buy from a well know dealer. I dont usually have a prob putting my ssn on the form when I fill it out, but I have recently heard you don't have to put it on there. If this is true then do I have to give some other id, or should I just tell them I don't won't to put it on there and go on with the transaction.

ps: I'm in Florida

You don't have to put it on there, and you don't have to provide any other type of ID to make up for not putting it on there. Adding it is simply a way to make the NICS call go through smoother, if you have a common name - they can check the SSN against any records they have in case you initially come back as a convicted felon, lol.

No - you don't have to put your SSN on the NICS form but if you've got a half way common name and want to find out what it feels like to get rejected - well - just leave it off.

I always put it on there. Hell, they know who I am already, and probably don't like it.

I've bought guns with and without it. Doesn't seem to make a difference, so I guess my name is not on the "wait, who's buying a gun list."

You're already on "the list", so using your ssn really doesn't matter.
