Got the kit today.

Have a question regarding the case trimmer that came with it.

The instructions say attach the left object to a shell holder... how?

Also the right object can use a rod of some sort to align itself with the case, where do I get such a rod?

Ah ok that has to be ordered separately. Didn't hear the store mention it so I didn't know.

Is there a need to trim cases or will they generally stay the same length after maybe 5 reloads.

Man a shellholder for the press, shellholder for auto prime, shellholder for case trimming. Can't they just make one shellholder that works for all three...

depends on what your loading. Most rifle casses tend to stretch and have to be checked and or trimmed. If you have a caliper you can measure them and anything that is too long put them aside until you get the other two parts. You will have shells you can load and some that will be waiting the extra part. On handguns. They tend to not stretch as much as rifle cases. Still they need to be checked.

Most handgun cases won't stretch enough to worry about, but rifle cases can and will stretch (especially if you full-length resize them during each reload). The Lee set-up gives you a pretty fool-proof way of checking the length, though, since the guide pin on the pilot goes through the firing-pin hole to butt against the steel base holding the case.

Foob, I use the same case trimmer for 223. I bought it to get by until I could figure out what I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised how fast and easy it worked for the price. I chuck the lock stud in a cordless drill trim, chamfer and debur in a matter of seconds. I don't see how a $50 to $80 trimmer could be much better but then I haven't used one. I think I will stick with the Lee for a while. Congrats and welcome to reloading.

Hehe today I tried the press on some old brass to practice. Yeah found out using a small folding table as a workbench doesn't work. Don't know how that one guy on THR did it. He had a pic of his setup and I copied it.

Tomorrow time to go to Homedepot and do it right.
