Question about Moly coated bullets

Folks, I recently have procured a small quantity of Nosler .308 180 grain Ballistic Tip bullets that are Moly coated. I have used and like the accuracy of these bullets, but have never loaded any that are Moly coated.
Anything that I need to change about my load, or that I should know before loading these up? Anything that I need to do to my barrel? Thanks so much in advance!

Just load as usual, your first 5-10 will not group as well as the next as much of the molly will be stripped from the bullet and deposited in the rifle durring the first few shots. Reccomend cleaning the rifle very well before you shoot them. You may find slightly higher velocity and after using moly, the rifle will be much easier to clean. Where do you shoot? Thanks so much for the reply. This is my first time using Moly-coated bullets. I usually shoot at Hot Wells, off of 290 and Barker Cypress

I'm actually closer to Hot Wells, but have not shot there. Do they have anything in excess of 100yds? What are the crowds like?

Additionally, check around with other folks on the moly. There is a big riff in the pro/con crowd. I have been very happy with it and moly coat for nearly all my rifles. If you decide to moly sometimes, realize there will be that 5-10 shot "fowling" period on both sides, that is to say the moly must be applied and again stripped. All I offer is my opinion. Check around for others.

Guys, thanks so much for the good information. I wasn't aware that it would take 5-10 shots to "foul" my barrel with Moly. Does this mean, that once I "foul" my barrel with 5-10 shots of Moly that I will have issues shooting non-moly'd bullets? Or if I shoot 5-10 bullets without moly, I will then have to shoot another 5-10 bullets in order to "re-foul" my barrel?
I didn't know that this would create so much hassle. I simply purchased a few hundred Nosler .380 180 grain ballist tip bullets, that happened to be coated with Moly. I thought that I could use my same loads and just shoot them. Thanks again for the great articles, I will print them out and read them this evening.
And about Hot Wells, they only have up to a 100 yard rifle range. I wish I could find somewhere relatively close by in the Northwest Houston area where I could try my hand at shooting 2-300 yards.

If you shoot moly stay with moly....You will have, what I call "stacking". Moly then copper,moly,copper. You want to prep your bore with a moly paste. Then shoot your moly coated bullets throught to break it in.
Make sure that when you prep your bore that you are doing it with a copper free barrel.
Look at www.brownells.com for the paste and follow the direction! If you like the way your rifle shoots with Moly then you can purchase a Moly kit from Lyman. It's a cheap way to moly caot your bullets at a fraction of the cost.

Well, folks, would it be possible for me to just spray these bullets down with brake cleaner (or what would you use to remove this stuff?) and take off the moly coating? Sounds like a lot of hassle and work to mess with this moly business, and no guarantee that I will see any improvements in accuracy. What is your opinion?

You can strip them, but depending on how the molly was applied you may need to tumble them.

I shoot moly on some of my rifles. Mostly varmint rifles. Moly can give you up to 25% more life out of your barrel. When it comes to my Varmint guns I thought that was great. Also when it came to cleaning them it was a snap.
My accuracy did improve so I stuck with it.
If you gun shoots great without it don't worry about it and keep shooting.

Maybe test one with the cleaner, I dont know if it will eat the tip of the BTs. I would not throw them all in the solvent without a test. Additionally, American Shooting Center has 200,300,400, & 600 yds.
