Question About Remington 700 magazines

I have a Remington 700 VSF which has the usual hinged floorplate with attached spring and magazine follower. Can this rifle be converted to a removable box magazine?

Also, if it is possible, is there any reason other than time/money/effort NOT to do the conversion?

The reason I'm asking is that my son's Savage 10-FP HS Precision has a removable box magazine, and it just seems like a more practical way to empty the rifle when necessary (other than by shooting it or cycling the bolt). Also, you can reload the rifle simply by swapping magazines.

Yes, the rifle can be converted using a kit that replaces the floorplate. Like this one from Cabelas: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...&parentType=index&indexId=cat20807&hasJS=true

The link is for a long action, but i know i've seen them for short actions before too. I personally dont know of any reasons not to do the conversion, as i have no experience with it.
