I purchased my first Glock earlier this year, and I went with the Glock 22 third generation RTF2 with the curved slide serrations. I havn't fired many rounds through it, but it feels very comfortable and secure to me (I have very rough hands) I know this pistol's design wasn't the most popular because of the "uncomfortable" sharp grip and odd serrations, but will this version of a Glock be the laughing stock of Glocks years down the road? Is this RTF2 to Glock like the 4 cylinder Mustang II was to Ford in the 70s? I know, it's a Glock who cares about looks, but who wants to own a gun that was so unpopular that Glock yanked it off of the market?? Please tell me I'm not the only weirdo that actually likes it.

I have the model 17 rtf2 and I love it! I personally like it better than the 4th generation and regular third generation models. I am hoping to by a 22 next.

Please tell me I'm not the only weirdo that actually likes it.

Don't worry, there are plenty of weirdos out there... like me.

I've heard the texture is too rough for some people's liking but when I grip it, it isn't going anywhere! Don't care either way about the slide serrations but that texture is fantastic.

Nothing weird about it; for me it is a matter of personal preference. I don't own a Glock, but like the looks of the RTF with the varied slide serrations, and if I ever decided to buy one I would try to find one of the RTF guns

You're not alone! I love mine!

I heard that one of the main reasons was that officers were complaining that the RTF was causing damage to the center consoles in squad cars, don't know if its true or not, but either way, it's a still a glock! And if anything you should be pleased that you are the proud owner of a limited run pistol, it may end up being worth more in the future.

I kinda wanted a Glock, but couldn't stomach them until I saw the RTF2 at the the shop a week or two ago and said to myself, "That's the closest I've seen glock come to a decent looking pistol". Couldn't resist. Since then I've shot over a thousand rounds through it and I'm hooked :)

your asking us if people will think you're weird years from now for a recent purchase?

i have the g19 rtf2 with gills and prefer the curved grooves simply because they're deeper, and easier to slingshot. i'd of preferred glock to simply make their straight serrations deeper, but i guess that would make too much sense....

also, since word got out about the gills being discontinued, they've been selling even better than they already were. more people are FFL transferring them because they can't find them locally. checkout glocktalk. :)

Thanks guys, didn't think anything about it until I heard it was being discontinued and I read some real negative feedback and reviews on it. It does stand out! :what:

After about 10 years a Glocks polymer will start to wear smooth. My brothers 1989 G17 is shiney and smooth from rubbing against his hand for a little over 150K rounds of rocking in his hand. My 8 year old XD is starting to get the same kind of wear.

If someone dont like it all they have to do is shoot it regularly for 10 or so years. It will smooth out over time. Alos FWIW the RTF2 is only available to LEO now. Gaston has not dropped it, it is just limited now to LEO...

They do wtill make them. One of my buddies bought one yesterday on LEO discount. Thats the only way they can be had.

They already stopped selling them to the civilian market.

Give these guys a call or email.

not at all. they're at all my local gunshops. still plenty on the market.

the distributors in that link you provided do not sell anything to civilians, period:

KIESLER'S DOES NOT SELL TO OR DEAL WITH THE CIVILIAN MARKET....... KIESLER'S ONLY DEALS WITH, ISSUES QUOTES TO, AND SELLS TO FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

...be the laughing stock...

Nope. Haters will hate, doesn't matter how your serrations are cut. Never mention the Mustang II, either. This is a gun board, and that isn't a real mustang anyway. :p My buddy has one that runs 9's in the 1/4 mile, street legal and he still gets berated for not having a real Mustang. Just saying, people will always talk junk about why you shouldn't like whatever they don't like. If you like it, don't worry about it.

Please tell me I'm not the only weirdo that actually likes it.

Nope, I own a g19 rtf2 and love it. I would trade it in an instant for a gen4 g19, however. But I added a g17 smooth trigger and a 3 1/2 pound trigger spring which made me like my ugly duckling much more.

i'd of preferred glock to simply make their straight serrations deeper, but i guess that would make too much sense....

I always wanted them slightly closer together, making it a little more sharp. Similar to how other designs have more numerous, finer, sharper grooves cut into a similarly sized area.

Thats my whole point. Go back and read where I said it is only available to police only.

Glock only takes orders from police departments for the RTF2. If police want to get them from a 3rd party I guess they can.

My point is the only way the RTF2 an be had is if a police department puts an order in with Glock themself. They are not sold to middle men for resale at shops that sell to 'civilians' for 'civilian' sale.

I hate the RTF2 frame design. It eats shirts, car consoles, seat belts, and the webbing of hands like a snickers bar. HOWEVER it does it's job of providing a very tactile grip.
