Thanks you kindly for the link ,lot to read but great info. I cut some egg carton but without the hollow punch it was very time consuming. I will try them out this Sunday.

i use conicals for knock down power, what is the advantage as a target load they use more lead than a ball?

I have an Uberti Cattleman (cap and ball version) I was advised the twist rate of the barrel suits conical bullets better than ball. Lead isn't an issue as a relative is a lead roofing specialist!

I use automotive grease over the ball and a beeswax & lard (or tallow) soaked wad under the ball. I've never had a chain fire and the colts shoot all day long. The Remingtons are another matter. My Ubertis need a drop of oil on the cylinder/frame area but the 5 Euroarms will shoot all day.

What kbob said about styrofoam. Don't use it. I'd rather go with a cornmeal filler than getting melted or burnt styrofoam in my barrel.
