Question, dark bore what does it mean?

When I bought my M44 it was a shiny bright bore. I have heard some MN and on the 91/30 models they can be dark bores but have good groves. What does dark bore mean? non chrome lined? There is a gun show coming up and If I found a Enfield/Mosin Nagant with a dark bore what does that mean

"Dark Bore" is a euphemism for "Rusty Bore"

Bring a small penlight to look down the bores at gunshows. Look for pitting in the bore.

Sometimes they can look rusty, but it's just cosmoline grease and dust in there.
