On the Forster Co-ax, there is an allen set screw, spring and ball assembly that tightens down on the lock ring. Do I tighten the allen screw so there is moderate pressure on the spring or should it be tightened all the way down? Thank you.
It's not there to "tighten" down on the die lock ring. It's simply a detent ball that's there to keep the die from sliding back out of the slot. Running the set screw down further simply increases the spring tension on the ball, making for a more positive click when inserting the die.
The co-ax's main feature is the ability of the die to "float" or IOW self align during sizing, seating, and belling operations. Tightly holding the die in that slot, defeats the best feature of the co-ax press.
