Question for Taurus 24/7 OWNERS

I had the opportunity to shoot one at my gun club last weekend. Chambered in 40 sw. It feels good in my hand. It's accurate. I didn't care for the trigger. When squeezing down you can feel when it gets to the break point, but it felt weird. Maybe the reset. It felt like it was very dirty- sand or something. Almost crunchy- but not all the time.
It was a used gun but still in decent shape. Meaning I don't think the gun was worn out just not as refined as it could be. I suppose for the price it's ok. It may be me, I don't care for the da/sa feel

I regret trading my Taurus PT 24/7 Pro C 9mm. It was an extremely reliable gun. (even though I had heard otherwise) It was very tight at first and I did have to put about 300 rounds through it before I was comfortable enough with my accuracy to carry it. Fired everything I put through it reliably with just 2 double feeds in the first 300 rounds. I do wish I had it back.

Funny you should ask-----I just bought a 24/7 Pro DS in .40 S&W and I like it so far. I have only put about 50 rounds through as a brief test, but function has been perfect. I have 500 rounds coming and intend to put it to a test, but so far I am impressed.
A couple of things I really like is the trigger, not the best, but good and I like the ability to double hit a faulty round. I know this is a plus-minus thing in some eyes, but don't see that it hurts a thing to have that capability.
One other thing some don't like, but I do, is the thumb safety/decocker. The pistol goes DA to SA much like a 1911 and the safety is a good feature IMHO.
The things I don't care much for---the mag release. Small and hard to push and it will hurt you thumb over an extended shooting session. Other than that, I like what I see/shoot so far. Mine came from CDNN for under $300 plus shipping and transfer. I thought the price was so good I bought one for my son for his upcoming birthday.

I have a 24/7 pro in 45 and a 24/7 pro longslide in 9mm. Both guns have functioned flawlessly. My only gripe is that if you are used to a 1911 trigger, the DA trigger will take some getting used to.

I think it's an incredible bargain. I've carried a 24/7 DS Pro C .45 for over a year now, I love the ergos and the trigger isn't bad at all. Mine's actually pretty smooth. Lighter than any of my hammer fired pistols in DA but a little mushy on takeup until you get to the break point. Decent reset.

I have a 24/7 pro in 9mm had it several years now and shot hundres of rounds through it and have not had a single problem its a great gun in my experience.

I bought a 24/7 OSS in .45ACP last November. I have shot about 3500 rounds through it of mostly reloads with all types of bullets with no problems at all.
I think I'll keep it.

My 24/7 Pro C 9 has never had an issue with any ammo or shooter in over 2000 rounds. I also don't really like the trigger but it works every time. Its also the perfect big brother to my TCP.

We have several and love them. The rubber ribber grips are outstanding. I don't recall ever having any sort of function problem with any of them. The first gen. models don't have any sight adjustment. Holsters are relatively scarce, and 24/7-specific accessories are basically nonexistent. Several different trigger and safety/decocker arrangements are/have been available, so pay attention and know what you're getting. I like the OSS arrangement with a combo safety/decocker that you can carry uncocked and locked, uncocked and unlocked, or cocked and locked - take your pick. Finally, they are extremely reasonably priced for the product you're getting. Oh, plus a lifetime warranty and free NRA membership.

I have the longslide Pro 40, its a great shooting gun and has handled all my reloaded ammo with no hang ups. It is accurate also. These guns rapid fire faster than any auto I have ever had. I like this gun so much I just bought the 40 cal in the 800 series with the external hammer.

24/7 Pro DS 9mm, over 1000 rounds before i sold it for my g17, and not a single malfunction. Ate everything i fed in it, without a hiccup. Almost wish i had it back. The grip and ergonomics almost felt better than my glock. As far as accuracy, im definitely more accurate with the Glock.

I have 3 and love them. 2 compacts-.40 and .45. I also have full size in .45 Mine have all shot exceptionally well and I have had no issues with them, except for the mags in the .40. They had some molding flash on the bases of the followers and would FTF sometimes. I disassembled them and sanded the flash off with 600 grit and now they are perfect.

I have both a 9mm and a .40 S&W Pro DS. I love the balance and the fact that they both will eat pretty much anything I feed them.

The DA/SA trigger, while not perfect, is probably the best I've felt on a sub-$400 striker gun.

All in all, I'll be keeping both of them for a while.

I had a 24/7 OSS in 9mm. I loved the trigger, feel and the long 5" barrel gave a negligent recoil. The only reason why I sold it was that it shot 2" low. But otherwise, I would have kept it!

24/7 DS Pro C .45 - I just bought mine about 3 weeks ago...I have about 130 rounds through it [WWB and American Eagle] 230 gr, FMJ, RN. No issues other than the one time when drawing, firing - I hit the mag release after the first shot so mag dropped a bit and I had a FTF so it was my fault.

The trigger is long and gritty as noted here.

It does shoot low as most will note. There is too much front blade height on these - a 3 dot system to me - should be 3 dots evenly across the sights. You have to hold the front blade to high above the rear sights which works but it's not my favorite sight picture.

I have it's cousin, a PT840, and i love it, accurate, reliable, comfortable, and since it has an external safety, i can carry it either DA/SA or cocked and locked SA (which i prefer)

From what I understand, the main difference is the External Safety and that the PT840 has a external hammer, not striker-fired

Compact in .45 , it feeds pretty much anything, trigger is passable, and no worse than a lot of other brands of this type gun. I like the second strike capabilty, the front sight is easily changed out (I put a truglow on mine)

Great gun at a reasonable price - I am happy with mine.
