I have an 11-87 Police with the Remington Ghost ring sight and the front sight that has a bead on top and the protective ears. (This is not the TracLoc/Scattergun type ghost ring.)

Can anyone tell me if these sights are durable? I haven't fired this gun and am thinking about selling it, because I don't know if the sights are durable or not. I would appreciate any info.

Thanks,
Steve

Well, obviously they're pretty durable since Remington puts them on a gun intended for police use.

NOBODY is more abusive of shotguns than cops, and Remington quickly finds out what doesn't stand up, and what does.

The fact that Remington has been using those sights for some years, is a clear indication that they are durable.

The front sight is very durable. The same can't be said for the rear sight. I have seen more then a few with the aperature broken off. It looked like a poor quality casting. Also, it is very difficult and expensive to replace the rear sight. Remington milled the top of the receiver flat and silver brazed the sight base.

Opie,

I'm not selling it cheap , but it will be fair, since it's unfired. I'll be posting in the the "for-sale" area soon.
