All,

I am looking at buying a Remington 11-87 Police with the 20 (or is it 18.5? I can't remember now....) inch barrel, the Ghost Ring sights, and the extended magazine tube.

Does anyone have any info on these? I can't seem to find any prices anywhere for these guns and it probably going to be my next gun purchase.....

Also, how does everyone feel on this being an HD gun as well? I already have an 870 set up for this purpose, but the little lady wants something that is semi-auto......

I do remember reading that these need heavy loads, like buckshot as a minimum in order for it to cycle reliably. Not really an issue, since those are the loads that you ought to be using anyway for HD. It might make practice at the range with light loads hard though.

Had one a few years back, wish I never traded it.

Had the ghost rings, but I would opt for a bead if possible. It has an 18" barrel.

It would not cycle with #8 shot, but did fine with S&B 00, which is all I used. Great gun and didn't kick too bad. I would consider another if the price was right.

Best,

-Coop

Thanks Coop!

As far as not cycling with the light loads, I only practice with the full power loads when I do, so........

The information providied by Coop is what I need to see more of...I really want to get one of these.

Remmy had an 1100 competition model in grey a while back. It was real nice but only took 2.75" shells and was damn near a $1K.

I have now an 870pm with the short lop hogue furniture and wilson trak locs (came with rifle sights, which I should have kept in hind sight). And it wears a wilderness tac sling.

It's a 20" (because in DC shotguns have to be that long). I know it's only 1.5", but it seems much less manueverably than the 18.5". Seems so heavy, too. Anyway, it's my bedside gun (unloaded and disassembled of course).

I really took up a fascination with benelli's inertia system and would love to try that.

Winchester had a semi that looks like the FN. Looks real nice, but too much $$$.

Never got into mossys but people say they're just as good... they look a bit lighter too.

Let us know what you pick.

PS- If I could do it over again I would actually find a used police mag. Opening the box on a brand new one was exciting, but 7 years later it's still stiff as a B!^ch!

Maybe I need to shoot more.

I just bought a Saiga 12 and love it. Honestly though, I would not hesitate to use it instead of my Saiga in a tactical situation. I love the gun!
