Gonna buy a 20 or 24" AR and both of the guns I am looking at do not have rails that you can affix a bi-pod or front folding sight. Was thinking some bolt on 3" quad rail that goes over the gas block would work. Both of the weapons I am interested in have free float carbon rails and are open at the muzzle end of the barrel. Any suggestions or should I get the quad rail gas block dilly?

I really did think there was some quad rail that just bolted over the gas block? I did end up getting the 20" bushmaster, match 2 stage trigger, scope and the whole shebang for what I felt was well below market value for the gun alone.

Anyway I would like a bi-pod and a front flip sight mounted for disconnect. Carbon free float rail is nice and I do not really want to drill or cut into it. Also did not want to have to get a new gas block but I may have to go that way. Just figured someone someplace might know of something.

Putting your bipod on a quad-rail gas block is going to defeat the purpose of that fancy free float tube. Just install a sling stud in the tube and attach your bipod to that. Sights will be another issue. You're going to have a hard time finding a sight you could install on the FF tube, so going to the gas block is really your only option there. If you get a flip-up sight, make sure you get one that is the correct height for a picatinny gas block (which is taller than one for a free-floated, railed handguard). From the description of your rifle, I'm assuming you already have a picatinny gas block. If you don't, you may also consider switching to an integrated gas block/flip-up sight.

Just purchase a good QUALITY rail. I suggest with a Daniel Defense or Troy TRX.
The Troy will be cheaper, a bit lighter, and will probably suit your needs a bit better.

Thanks for the thread on Yankee Hill..Mot45acp

Azizza wondered where you were!!!

I have a 5.5" weaver rail I could mount I could affix to the bottom of my fore grip but again that's not an option I am interested in.

There is no front sight on the AR and for that matter no BUIS on the back either. It was intended as a scoped rifle by ????? who ever. Scope works surprisingly well.

I just wanted something I could easily screw over the front gas tube block/connection that would give me an easy block for a bi-pod and maybe a cheap ARMS 71L-F & 71L-R Flip-Up Sights or magpul flip sights. I suppose I should have found and copied a picture pf the barrel to make it easier to explain.

Other have already said it. You don't want to put the Bipod on the gas block. It puts pressure on the barrel and will cause a shifting POI. That is why I suggest a Free float rail. If you want a YHM or other that is fine. but putting it on the Gas block or non FF handguards isn't a good idea.

I did a Google search for "picture of a bushmaster 20" predator" and the two pics (listed below) are of the type I have. All their bi-pods are attached to the fore hand grip (swivel)of those I saw. None are done in a way like I was thinking would be easy install and remove when trekking....

Also the magpul PRS stock I kinda want????? any of you guys using them. Sent Tonyangel a Pm I know he has one. Been told they really balance out the weapon but so does the original stock...Just asking for opinions; I do like the cheek rest.

Ok forget the bi-pod on the barrel thing!! I will mount it on the ff hand guard. What suggestion on a mount and flip sight for the front...Change the gas block or try to find a Yankee Hill type block to affix to the barrel?

Thanks guys.
