I recently bought a Ruger Blackhawk convertable (.45 Colt/.45 ACP).
When ejecting the empty cases (or unfired rounds), the cylinder does not line up with the ejection rod unless I visually align it. Per my understanding of the manual (and I may well be wrong), once you hear the click (as you rotate the cylinder with the loading gate open), you should be able to rotate the cylinder in the opposite direction until it locks...that should align the cylinder/ejection rod.

Am I right or wrong?

Damn nice revolver, otherwise!

That has been my experiance too.

Always took some fiddling to line them up, which was a real bummer if you were used to Ruger three-screws & Colts.

I had a convertible Blackhawk in .357/9mm. The ejection rod was bent enough when I got it, that it would hit the front of the cylinder when the ejection housing was lined up with the ejection port and chamber. I had to bend it slightly so it was straight to get it to work properly.

Mine does the same. I lay the gun with the left side of the cylinder on the center of my palm, to prevent the cylinder from turning. Then, I slide it down my palm to load the next round. This works well until you're on your 4th or 5th cylinder of 44mag loads, and the thing is hot enough to cook eggs on. :D

If you want to change it, you can go to a Power Custom hammer and trigger for three clicks and half cock loading, or get a free spin pawl. Or, after 35 years or you have three or four of them, you find you don't notice it anymore.
