On the browning website it mentions some of the Gold's as having shims. Other guns don't have that specification. Is this an oversight? Or is it a reality that the only shotgun retailing for less than $1900 with a wood stock lack a basic feature that comes standard on many far cheaper shotguns?

I'd love to have these features:

*Browning gold (speed loading)
*Shims
*non-ladies size (I'm a big guy) which means this very nice gun is not an option. :-(
*wood stock

You would think that this wouldn't be that hard to obtain.

I don't own any shotguns with the shim feature so I can't comment. I will say I don't feel deprived. As far as I know the Browning is a pretty well regarded gun. If you are a big guy, why are you wanting a lightweight 12 gauge gun with an alloy receiver? Just curious is all; I have a featherweight 28 and I ain't no featherweight myself, but I like steel for the most part.

Wacki,

I don't understand your question about shims. The Browning Gold has shims to adjust for drop. The Beretta autoloaders such as the 390 and 391 have shims which adjust for drop and cast. The Remington 1100 does not have shims of any kind.

Over/Under shotguns (as a general rule) do NOT have shims.

Now, what was your question again?

Pete,

I want a gun with shims. Click on the links in my original post and you will see the word "shim" on some gold shotguns but not others. Reading the website it seems this feature does not come on every gold shotgun. I'm wondering if this is an accidental omission of listed features or if the hunter superlite really doesn't have shims.

I'm looking for a gun with the four features found in the bulleted list in my original post (speed loading, shims, wood stock, men's size). Any other features are merely a bonus.
