Question on Cimarron Arms

As far as quality goes they're on par with every other Uberti black powder. Which is to say its hit or miss. They all need some sort of tinkering if you really intend to shoot them a lot. I own several Uberti cap and balls. An 1849,1861, and 1860 from Dixie Gun Works. All three were duds when I received them. Dixie replaced them no questions asked however. The replacements were so so. The 1849 , and the 1860 have timing issues. The 1861 had a horribly gritty action. Finally got fed up with it and sent it off to Goons Gunworks. Its now my best black powder revolver. The one I bought from Cimarron was the 1862 Pocket Navy. It was also a dud. Arbor was loose. Sent it back and it was repaired. Timing is off a bit though. That one is also getting sent to Goons.

Every Uberti cap and ball I've bought had to be sent back. Oddly enough the only cap and balls I've never had issues with were the cheap Pietta's I bought on sale at Cabela's lol. I have 3 1858's and an 1851. All functioned out of the box. Maybe I'm just unlucky. lol Next Uberti I buy Im going to just tell them to send it with a pre paid return slip.

That's not my experience with Taylor's. Every one I have bought from them is incredibly smooth and well timed.

I bought from Taylor's & Company a,
51 Navy, 60 Army, (2) 58 Remingtons, 49 Pocket, 62 Police,

all smooth right out of the box.
I haven't bought anything from Taylors. Like I said though. I'm really unlucky with buy Uberti's though.

Wow....you have had major bad luck there! I have had only one bad Uberti, a Dragoon that went back to Dixie and was replaced. Many years ago I got a bad Pietta Colt 1851 with a cylinder gap you could drive a Mack Truck through. I kept it and use it for parts.

One friend has a Pietta Remington he bought from Traditions and it is terrible. I keep telling him to send it to the Goon, but he's not that much into black powder. Shoots it once a year maybe.

What does this have to do with 1911's? Did you read the post by their president? Then you should be able to pick out the Cimarron's in the above pics and point out the differences. They also have single actions done with their "US Finish" with real bone charcoal color case hardening and carbona blue finishes but those are done stateside. Doesn't change the fact that the guns, as they leave the Uberti factory, are all the same whether they're shipped to Cimarron, Taylor's, Dixie Gun Works, Stoeger or EMF. Like I said, if they were better, they're all I would buy.

Pietta doesn't do an 1849. Far as I know, there is only an issue with their 1862 (which 'should' be a pocket model) being basically a shorter 1861 Navy.

Actually on some models there are differences. The finish is no better on the Cimarron unless you get US finish or the Ford nickel plated finish but for example the Cimarron OM frame model P has the correct hammer with no safety whereas I've never seen a Stoeger/Uberti etc without the safety in the hammer. Also the Cimarron models are usually much cleaner and better marked without all of the stupid proof stamps, import marks, or whatever all the the Italian markings mean cluttering up the finish of the gun.

That said on the model the original post is about there will be no difference other than the markings.

Yes but those guns are farmed out stateside and they start out as complete, finished guns. The gun they receive from Uberti is the same. Send a DGW, Taylor's or Stoeger to Turnbull and the result is the same.

The Cimarron imported revolvers have no proof marks or date stamps? If they're Uberti then they put their 'warnings' under the loading lever but their required 'stamps' are visible.
