Do you men have any knowlege about this?
I've heard Cimarron does a quality tweaking on their firearms..........

I'm about ready to purchase a C-n-B Revolver by UBERTI in the 1849 Pocket Style 31caliber, but am undecided as to which Company to deal with. In their photo's, the cosmetics seem to be a little different, and I'm leaning towards those of Dixie, but I'm aware pictures can be deceiving. So I've resolved to come here in hopes some of you may have hands on experience with either or both of those dealers products. If I was able I'd go ahead and get one from each. Thank you in advance for your imput. Sage :)

I have several Cimarron Uberti firearms: 1866 Yellowboy in .45 Colt, a pair of 1872 Open Tops in .45 Colt, pair of Evil Roy 1873 SAAs. They are first rate in every respect. Cimarron also has excellent customer service. I've never returned a gun, but had a good experience when I was looking for the 1872s. I have no experience with Dixie, but they have been around a long time and have a good reputation. Another place to check is Buffalo Arms. They seem to have the same guns as Cimarron but a bit lower in price. You probably can't go too far wrong with any reputable importer. BTW, I don't have an 1849, but I think they are really neat little revolvers. I believe Colt made more of the 1849 and variations than any other C&B revolver.

I, too, would like to know whether the Cimarron guns are any better than just plain Uberti.

I just looked over all of the Colt reviews on Dixie's site, fairly consistent in that Uberti was rated superior to Pietta, On Colts, if not Remingtons. Most of the Uberti Dragoons tended to drop the loading lever with heavy charges, much like the Walker. Best reviews I think were for the Uberti 1860 Army.

I'd be glad to pay a little extra for Cimarron if I had any idea what is supposed to make them better. Considering a Whitneyville Dragoon.

Near as I can tell, Cimarron definitely offers some tangible advantages, and may offer others.

The definite advantages are, they tend to offer more versions and finishes. This is mostly true in the cartridge guns, but even in the percussions they offer fancy finishes that no other off-the-shelf Uberti dealer (that I've seen) handles.

There are claims that they get 'good ones' from the Uberti line, but that seems kind of fishy. They don't do any tweaking, as far as I know, but I think that they do at least look over all the stuff they process - they're definitely handling all of them, since they get the address rollmarked on the barrel.

I've bought six Ubertis from Midway and they've all gone back for QC reasons. I've bought six Cimarrons from Buffalo and they've all been keepers.

From someone who represented Uberti in this country years ago, I learned that Uberti makes several different "grades" of guns. Some importers, particularly those that order them with their name on them, order a higher grade than others. I have experienced this first hand. Cimarron is problably better than most. The top grades are not usually exported out of Europe I am told.

I think this goes for other MFGS. as well and still is the practice from what I have been told.

Dixie used to be very reliable. Still has a very good return policy. Believe that they will work with you if you have problems.

Is this like Canadian beer???? Guess I won't be flying to Europe to buy my revolver.

Cimarron sounds good to me, thanks for your input Mr. Hawkeye.
