First of all, thank you for time. I appreciate any and all input on this, as I'm looking at a stage 2 folding AICS stock for a .308 SA 700. I'm 99% sure it'll work, but want to be absolutely sure before I take the plunge on the stock and see if there are any alternatives. I searched and found some advice on BDL's but not the ADL.

Is this a straight up drop in installation or are there any extra parts required or parts/places that need to be dremeled or worked on to make the fit?

From what I gather, the AICS will eliminate all parts of the internal magazine and replace it with an external. Are there any parts that will be transferred over in the installation or is it really that simple?

Will the bedding only fit a certain type of barrel (heavy I'm assuming) or will any barrel work?

As for alternatives, my options are somewhat limited as I shoot lefty with a righthand bolt. It seems the AICS is ambidextrous and the folding stock would fit my frame. I will say I've tried the Choate stock and while solid it felt short where I needed length and a bulky feel that was uncomfortable to grip.

Thank you all again for your help and experience.

The only advise I can give is to try to get your hands on a rifle that is equipped with the stock and take it for a test drive. This stock seems to be a love it or hate it sort of thing. I was ready and itching to pull the trigger on one, but luckily a guy that shoots at my range had one. After a bit of time behind the trigger, I decided that it wasn't for me.

Definitely

I couldn't agree more. Believe me, I've been asking around to see if anyone I know has one. May I ask what turned you off it? Guess my biggest question was how heavy was it all put together?

I have several AICS's, both 1.5's and 2.0's. They are heavier that most any other aftermarket stock and are as tough as they come. They either fit your form or they dont. Some dont care for the thumbhole, some dont like the look or the weight. AI is soon going to release their pistol grip "AX style skins so you can do away with the thumbhole.

They generally dont need bedding and a M700 will bolt right up to the AICS chassis but some including myself will skim bed the action to remove any misalighnment.
The feeding from the AI magazine is very positive and works very well. 5 and 10 round factory as well as aftermarket magazines are easily available and are used in numerous other makes of bottom metal. Any M700 factory barreled actions are drop in and I beleive they will take up to a 1.25" contour bbl.

I can answer more questions if you PM me. BTW where in Texas are you? If you are close to me I can hook you up with some "hands on"
