I recently acquired a Remington 700 ADL and wanted to replace the stock. The stock I want is only made for the BDL models. Whether the rifle is ADL or BDL really makes no difference to me, so is it possible to convert it?

Pretty simple...get the bottom metal (hinged floor plate and trigger guard).

You can usually find used bottom metal on SnipersHide forum at a good price...depending on just what caliber you have.

The action is the same, the stocks are the only difference.

I have a Remington Sendero in 270 win that was setup like an BDL with a hinged floorplate but converted it to take the factory clips by buying the bottom metal for detachable mags. Now instead of jamming bullets past my scope (Burris Black Diamond, 8-32 x 50) I stay in position and drop the one mag for the other without loosing sight of target. Bought 5 clips on a dutch sale on Gunbroker so I have 25 rds available as needed. It was simple to install & did not loose my accuracy in the process.

Cabelas sells a Kwik Clip kit that replaces all that also. My 700 started out as a vanilla ADL also.
Last I checked, so long as it's "Long Action" only will the Kwik Klip conversion work. Have they started making one for the Short Action? I did one of my .30-06 ADLs with this kit... turned out just fine for me.

CG, if you look around you'll probably find good used BDL stocks at a good price. They are usually available at gun shows and you can find them on various net sites.
