Question on the Sig P238

I recently purchased a brand new Sig P238 for my wife.

Normally, in a regular 1911,if you "half cock" the hammer, the hammer shouldn't fall when you pull the trigger. But with the P238, it does. Is that normal for this particular gun? And if so, will,it strike it hard enough to discharge the weapon if carried on Condition 2? The manual does not mention anything like this.

Yes it's normal, no it won't set off the primer.

I agree it's normal; mine does that too.
It isn't really a "half cock" IMO, it's an "intercept" position. It can't be considered a "safety" position because, as you say, pulling the trigger releases the hammer -- even though the impetus it imparts won't fire the gun.
The P-238 is safe to be carried cocked with the safety on. The safety is in an ideal position to be thumbed off on drawing the gun.

And that P238 is more different from a 1911 inside than you're imagining, it just sort of looks like one from the outside, internally it is not a mini-1911

And the intercept notch isn't really the designed carry position, condition 1 does work just fine with the p238, one thing it does share with a 1911.
