For those of you that own one, does the single shot utilize the same sights they put on their lever guns? My LGS will have to order one in for me, so haven't handled one yet. But the sights on their leverguns that I handled are really nice. Kinda assuming they're the same.

Secondly for those of you that have mounted a scope . I see the Weaver 82 mount the H&R uses works. But they appear tltbe tall . With bases installed non therifle are you still able to utilize the iron sights? I was avble to do this on my old 336 marlin. Didn't use the irons much, but i liked that feature. Some QR rings and you can pop off the scope and JUST see the sights over the Weaver rail, the rail almost worked as a rear sight be itself. Not a deal breaker if you can't, but always a nice option.

Recently got a Henry single shot in .308 but no scope yet. The iron sights that came with it are pretty nice IMHO. Don't know if the same sights are used on their lever guns. Those Weaver 82 mounts do appear pretty tall to me so I'm looking at other stuff. EGW (egwguns.com) makes a nice looking, low picatinny rail that's also available through Henry IIRC. The Henry web site also has a Talley one piece base & rings unit available but I'm unsure how tall that one is. So I'm currently also in the market exploring options for scope mounting on one of those. Anyone here at TRH mount a scope on a Henry single shot yet? And if so; how was it done?

Bones741,
I have a Henry Single Shot 45-70 but I do not have a Henry lever gun. The sights on the single shot are a simple blade for the front and a flip down flat top rear sight that does have some adjustment up and down for elevation and side to side for windage. I did not need to adjust mine at all right out of the box so I really didn’t pay attention to the rear sight regarding adjustment limits.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I haven’t bothered with mounting a scope so I cannot answer that question.

As you can see from the attached photos the lever guns (except Ling Rangers) have adjustable elevation semi buckhorn sights. I got these online.

Thanks I do think the ones I looked at at the store we're about the same. They where a flattop ,not semi buckhorn, so that's a good thing though. I liked them alot, even in the cruddy indoor lighting.

Well if ya settle on a mount post up if you can see those irons please! I've been doing a bunch of googling and been coming in with nothing, so I posted here. BTW I read the Leupold rifleman base for the H&R will work, but you need to shorten the rear end a tad so it clears the break action properly.
