I received my SA 1911-Loaded (PX9109) a week ago. I have replaced the hammer (Wilson), trigger (Wilson), extractor (Wilson), sear (Wilson), sear spring (STI titanium), disconnector (STI), mainspring housing (Wislon), mainspring cap (titanium), mainspring cap retainer (stainless), the hammer strut (STI titanium), and a Morris weld on magwell (narrow). Front strap checkered to 25 LPI and a trigger job to 3.5 lbs. (Not all of this is completed yet. SA custom shop will be doing this when I mail it off).
My questions are: Is the barrel in the Loaded just “OK†or is there a better choice? I am not sure if I like the two-piece guide rod. What are some recommendations for guide rod replacements? Who supplies them? I am not too worried about cost. (Yes, I know I could have bought a Kimber Custom with all of this and saved. I already have one. I guess I just wanted a SA).
The pistol will be finished with the SA Armory Kote (maybe. Still looking into the Titanium Aluminum Nitride finish, but that cost as much as the gun…. Still debating. Any helpful input on the finish would be greatly appreciated too.)
I have done just about as much to this pistol as possible. I like the barrel the gun came with, but don’t want to feel like I am getting “cheap†on the final stage.
Thanks for your time and input,
James S.
