Over a year ago I saw the writing on the wall about the impending doom of the (then) upcoming election. With as unpopular as Bush had become, the Republicans could have ressurrected Abraham Lincoln or Theodore Roosevelt to run and they still would have been defeated. With the impending AWB on the not-too-distant horizon, I ordered an AK47 from Mark Graham at Arizona Response Systyems. The AK I received really seems like a great rifle. He said it was built on a Nodak Spud receiver with a Romanian "G" parts kit. What can you guys tell me about these things?

The build on this thing is top notch. It has brown East German furniture and it feels just exactly like you'd expect an AK from a quality gunsmith like Mark to feel. I'm not surprised to see that his backlog is quite extensive. Quality of that kind is worth waiting for.

I've heard good things about ARS. You probably got a good one. There's not much to really say about it, though, at least not without seeing pictures. It's an AK. That's all there is to it.

I can't speak about ARS's builds, but based upon your review, I'd say that they do a good job.

As for a Rommy "G" on a Nodak Spud receiver:

Rommy "G"s are from the Romanian Civillian Guard. These were never built in Full Auto configuration if I recall correctly. Romanian "G" AK kits are run-of-the-mill AK's based upon most people's critique. I've owned a Century Romanian AK, and a Rommy "G" kit gun build. For what they are, they are good AKs. I really liked the Rommy G that I had.

As for the Nodak receiver. They have a very good following and most consider a Nodak receiver to be worry-free. Likely, yours is built on the Nodak Economy receiver. This one's rails are a tad looser, but it works fine. The premium has tighter rails.

If I remember correctly from when I was into AKs, the Nodak economy receiver had some troubles with the Tapco G3 trigger. I don't know if they ever ironed those out. However, I have no doubt that ARS built yours with a compatable trigger.

Enjoy the rifle and post some pics!

congrats on the purchase, now good luck finding ammo:). You can check out these sights for some information on AK's. Enjoy, there a blast to shoot, but more fun when ammo was a $100 for a thousand rounds.

check out this link for all you need to know about a Romanian AK.

Probably?

ARS is one of the best 'smiths in the country.

You definitely got a good one.

You williwaggers complaining about the price - one pays for quality.
