I just purchased the LaRue QD LR-104 mount

I have two of those exact LaRue mounts (if you mean QD LT-104) on a couple of ARs and they work VERY well ... in fact, I see no need to even consider any other mounting system for future AR uppers.

So did you manage to figure out what was up with the Nightforce reticle?

:)

Thanks for reassurance. I feel confident I made a good choice with the scope and the mount, so I will let you know how it goes when I have my NF mounted on my gun and ready to go. As I wrote in the previous posts on the thread, I also purchased a PRS stock to allow for a adjustable cheek weld that will enable me to use these high mounts on an already high pictanny rail.

The boss lady won't allow me to purchase items like this on plastic, so I'm having to save my pennies.
Then just have your financial institution do a low interest balance transfer over the phone or using one of those checks.. PLastic free guilt :neener:

Haven't yet, but I did talk to some people who seemed to be experienced with the NF. One person told me the reticle has an adjustment on it and that I was not focusing the reticle properly. I was told both the object and reticle have seperate focuses on the NF. Well, whether he is right or not, I am sure I will figure it out. Many champion shooters and military people use NF, so I highly doubt that their reticles dont work.

if you adjusted the ocular lens, perhaps it was the LED light reflecting off of the reticle?

gunnie, I am not sure if it is what you said, but when I get my scope delivered I might be able to determine what you wrote better. It could be that light was reflecting off the lense that messed up the clarity of the reticle. However, no other reticle on any other scope had this issue. I am reading somewhere that the reticle of the NF is etched to the glass in contrast to other reticles on other scopes.

The NP-R1 and 2 and some of the benchrest reticles are very thin and very light in color, almost a light gray instead of solid black. The purpose is to almost be able to see thru reticle to aid in acquisition of a target that is very small or very distant or both. I have the 3.5-15x50 MLR and love it.

Well, even if the reticle is light gray, there was times where I could bearly see it at all and other times it was not visible. I am not sure what the meaning of this is.. Many suggested the NP-R2 or 1 reticle so I went with that. I hope I don't regret it. I don't know much about the MLR reticle. That may have been a good chioce, but I think I am stuck with what I got. I liked the hash marks versus the circles and thought the NP-R2 reticle would make a good range reticle for shooting paper. I know NF has a hollowed Mil-Dot reticle and some other choices, but I went with what I was suggested from NF and others, as being the most popular for what I am doing.

I think that you did well choosing (and will enjoy) that reticle...but still don't quite understand the trouble you were having with it...best I can figure is it was out of focus. :)
