OK, probably a very silly question. Is there a listing anywhere that cross references guns and films? For example, what if I want to see a Glock 18 in action (or what Hollywood thinks it should look like)? From memory, I know there are two in Transporter 2, both operated by a hot chick. I want to know what other movies have used this gun as a prop.

If I want to cross reference soundtracks and films, and many other types of data, I can use imdb.com. Anything existant for guns?

Second question, how many guns make their way into films by way of "product placement". Even now in many films you see nondescript shotguns and revolvers that could be of any make. But often you see something easily identifiable. I wonder if Hollywood is shopping gun manufacturers for product placement fees. I wonder what they get for it. Certainly nothing like the millions that change hands for shoes, soda, and automobile product placements.

But, product placement of firearms must be effective. Die Hard sold me two guns (P7M8 and a knockoff SP-89) and makes me wish for another (AUG). Note that I give credit for my Beretta 92 purchase to military adoption, but Die Hard and Lethal Weapon did not hurt it's chances for my purchase either. :)

Does anyone know of any examples of actual product placement of guns in films where money has changed hands? Often these product placement deals are made public, sometimes infamously (i.e. one of the Bond movies placed a certain brand of cigarettes and sort of got in trouble for it). I just can't find an example. Examples? Any idea what it was worth to the film company?

Thanks.
