Toku, good point about workbenches, tools, etc. That's hardwood.

And yeah, I hear you re 'squiters. They can drive one crazy. I can only imagine what they're like on the tundra...er, rather prefer not to imagine it.

(Worst biting insects I ever encountered were: 1) blackflies in Maine and 2) punkies or "no-see-ums" in Florida. Shhhhhheeeeessssshhhhhh. Put up the deet, full body netting required.

SB, thanks for the trigger mod heads up. There are a few other threads you'll probably wander into where that could be useful info as well.

Please let us know if you (or others) learn of any evidence of cause and effect.

It isn't the trigger that's the problem. It feels like the mechanism is galling when I work the lever. Is that just Marlins? Is it something I should fix myself? Or should I just take it down to the gunsmith?

Hey Todd, I had to google "define: galling". I'm still not sure I know what that means with respect to your Marlin.

Can you add a couple more words description? Rubbing? Grinding? Binding? ...

Try Michigan's Upper Peninsula for a wonderful combination of blackflies and midges (no-see-ums) with the occasional deerfly thrown in. And they still have skeeters. Yikes.

Nematocyst,

There are a few points along the travel of the lever where it feels tight and feels like the metal parts are rubbing or scraping one another.
