I have in my gun cabinet a Fulton 12ga SXS shotgun the serial number is in the 98XXX and I've looked it up at the L.C SMith Collectors website and it seems that the shotgun was made in 1927.

Is it still safe to shot modern shotgun loads threw it. I don't plan on doing that but i'm just wondering. Its in okay conditon there is some pitting on the barrel from use over time. it was my grandfathers gun but he passed it on to my brother ( He doesnt take care of anything) so its mine now. the discoloration on the recievers still has the wavy lines (Case harding??) and the wood is in good condtion for being used also the bore is still nice, smooth and shiney. Since its a hand-me-down it is not going to be sold and will be taken care of but for Shnitz and giggles what would the value be.

As with all old shotguns, this delightful old heirloom needs a visit to Mr Gunsmith before firing even one shell.

Is it a sidelock? Fulton Arms made the LC Smith guns as you must know.

The boxlock Fultons bring less money.

As for value, the last Elsie I saw for sale was a decent field grade 12 in very nice shape with 30" barrels. Asking price was $2K.

HTH....
