Quick blurb bout Mossberg 802.

I've had this rifle for a few months now. I got it sighted than had other stuff going on and little time to work on it. It's a pretty decent little rifle for the 220 I paid for it, thought I'd let folks know how it handles and shoots.
The guns rough around the edges, hard chrome finish is OK but kinda uneven. triggers smooth but squishy and about 5lbs. mag loads well and has been reliable in the 300rnds or so I've shot thru the gun, will even cycle shorts as long as no more than 4-5rounds are loaded. Stock feels exactly like a Marlin model 60, there aren't any replacement besides the factory synthetic, and perhaps a boyds if the 702 has the same action inletting (from looking at diagrams I think they do and I'll be ordering a stock when I can afford it).

The rifles accuracy is pretty good considering the cost CCI mini mags grouped 10rnds into just over 1/2" and everything else decent shot into 1-1.5" for 10rnds at 50yds.
CCI quiets shot into an 1" horizontally but about 2" vertically and 6-8" low at 50.
I tried some Winchester white box and they were good horizontally but we're spread bout 4" vertically, those are the unmarked shots

If I can find time I'll take the gun out again and shoot separate targets so I don't end up with a pile clustered like i did with the CCI standards and Wolf subs (I used other aim points for the mini mags and Wolf standards).

I think that's exactly the best use for the rifle, toss it behind the seat of a truck, or take it when you need a beater. I know they are available much cheaper, but even for what I paid I'm happy with it. Compared to my buddies cz varmint it feels pretty crudy, but shoots just as well. I'm also not concerned about my gun bouncing around my truck.

So i got out for a while this weekend to play with my new Magnetospeed and a couple of rifles. I also took my 802 along to play with. I was mostly plinking at shotgun shells and other random crap on the the berm, but before i left i decided to shoot a quick group at 100 with cci minimags.

The larger bullet hole, which i was shooting at, is from my 6.5CM. total group size is about 1.5" and 8 of them are in a little more than an inch. Im not positive but i think i pulled the other two shots, as they were right at the end and both shook the gun enough that i lost view thru the scope. Now that I think about it, i was using the scopes bdc reticle, and it wouldnt have been hard for me to cant the gun in that postion.
